Chandigarh's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection has shown a consistent growth trend over the past few months. In July, the city recorded a GST collection of Rs 217 crore, marking a remarkable 23 per cent increase compared to the corresponding month last year. This indicates a positive economic trajectory and reflects the city's resilience amid challenging times.

Furthermore, the GST collection for June also saw substantial growth, reaching Rs 227.06 crore, representing a 34 per cent increase compared to June 2022. May's collection, at Rs 259 crore, stood out as the highest-ever monthly collection for Chandigarh since the introduction of GST, showcasing the city's economic prowess and effective tax administration.

Robust Growth in GST Collection Signals Economic Strength

The detailed figures presented by the Ministry of Finance demonstrate a consistent upward trend in GST collection for Chandigarh. April's collection witnessed a slight 2 per cent increase, reaching Rs 255 crore compared to the previous year's collection of Rs 249 crore for the same month. March and February also experienced positive growth rates in GST collection, with March witnessing a significant 10.09 per cent jump to reach Rs 202 crore.
