Rahul Gandhi on Sunday bashed the recently launched Agnipath Scheme of the Government. Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul stated that by repeatedly giving false hope of jobs, he has forced the youth to walk on 'Agnipath' of unemployment.
His statements come a day after several senior Congress leaders, including general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, sat on a "Satyagraha" at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in solidarity with the youths protesting against the Agnipath scheme. The former Congress Chief added that 16 crore jobs were to be given in eight years, but the youth only got knowledge of "frying pakoras."He notes that only PM Modi for this condition of the country, he added. Rahul Gandhi also appealed to party leaders and workers not to celebrate his birthday on Sunday.

In a message to the party workers, Gandhi stated said that the youngsters of the country are anguished and protesting on the streets, and the Congress workers should always stand with them. This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi slammed the Agnipath Scheme. Gandhi had earlier accused PM Modi for listening only to his 'friends' and ignoring the voices of hundreds across several states who have staged violent protests against the 'Agnipath' scheme. The Congress chief also warned the government not to take an 'agnipareeksha' of armed forces aspirants. Earlier this week , he further demanded the government to 'stop compromising the dignity, traditions, valour, and discipline of armed forces.
The Centre on 18th June announced several incentives, including a 10% reservation in vacancies in the defense ministry and paramilitary forces, for Agnipath retirees as it tried to appease the violent protests against the new military recruitment scheme in several states. The opposition parties, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, AAP boss and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, and CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury have been launching scathing attacks against the Centre since the launch of the Agnipath Scheme last week.
