China renames 15 places in Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh has "always been" and will "always be" an integral part of India

15 localities in Arunachal Pradesh have been renamed by China

China’s plan to rename 15 locations in Arunachal Pradesh was flatly rejected by India on Thursday. Arindam Bagchi underlined that this state has always been and would continue to be a vital part of India. This is unaffected by the ‘manufactured’ names. China has declared names for 15 new locations in India’s northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in Chinese characters, Tibetan and Roman alphabets, eliciting a strong response from India. Arunachal Pradesh is claimed by China to be a part of Tibet’s South.

Arunachal Pradesh is claimed by China to be part of South Tibet. According to the state-run Global Times, China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs stated on Wednesday that it had standardized 15 place names in Chinese characters, Tibetan and Roman alphabets for Zangnan, Arunachal Pradesh.

This is not the first time China has done something like this, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi. China has sought to modify the names of locations in Arunachal Pradesh before. Also in April 2017, China attempted to change the name in this way. Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will always be a part of India, he remarked. This truth will not be changed by making up names for places in Arunachal Pradesh.
