Manipur CM announces deportation of 38 more illegal immigrants to Myanmar

On Wednesday, the Manipur government deported 38 more illegal immigrants from Myanmar. This group was sent back through the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh. Chief Minister N Biren Singh shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that the deportees were safely handed over to Myanmar authorities by Indian immigration officers at the border.

First phase completed in May

The first phase of this deportation process was completed on May 2, when another group of 38 illegal immigrants was sent back to Myanmar via Moreh. Earlier in March, seven more Myanmar nationals, including women, were deported by air from Imphal International Airport to Moreh.

Chief Minister Singh emphasized the state government's ongoing efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants. He highlighted the problem of illegal immigration and its impact on local communities and national security. Singh had previously reported that 6,746 illegal immigrants from Myanmar were detected in Manipur between May 3 of last year and February 27 of this year.
