3rd World War, Russia’s foreign minister warns of nuclear weapons

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned on Wednesday that a third World War would be “nuclear and terrible” if it broke out. His remarks came as tensions with the West grew over Moscow’s ongoing huge military campaign in Ukraine.

The secret operation against Ukraine, according to Lavrov, was initiated to prevent Kyiv from getting nuclear weapons. For more information, watch the entire video.

The RIA news agency said on Wednesday that he informed a Geneva disarmament meeting via video link the day before that neighbouring Ukraine, which Russian invaded last week, was looking for nuclear weapons.

“Ukraine still has Soviet nuclear technologies and the means of delivery of such weapons,” he said, without providing any evidence.

Lavrov has also stated that obtaining nuclear weapons by Ukraine would pose a “serious threat” to Russia.

Nuclear weapons are on high alert-

Russia launched a land, air, and naval assault on Ukraine, the largest single-state invasion in Europe since World War II.

The West has responded with harsh economic penalties against Russia as well as arms and humanitarian aid delivery to Ukraine.

Following similar actions by the European Union and Canada, the US government placed a restriction on Russian flights in US airspace on Tuesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin activated his strategic nuclear capabilities on Sunday, sending shockwaves around the world and boosting the risk that tensions may escalate to the point where nuclear weapons would be used.

Putin stated that his decision was based on “aggressive statements” made by NATO leaders while imposing harsh financial sanctions on Russia and himself.

The threat of Russia’s “dangerous” nuclear mobilisation was understated by US President Joe Biden. When asked if Americans should be concerned about nuclear war, Biden responded with a cool “no.”

According to assessments, Russia possesses the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. SIPRI, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, has counted 6,255 Russian warheads compared to 5,550 US warheads. China comes in second with 350 points, followed by France with 290.

Although widely accepted, these figures are estimates, given the fact that not all nuclear-capable weapons systems actually carry nuclear warheads, a fact that is largely unknown.
