50 Nepal Officials will join 22nd International Public Health Management Development Program by PGIMER.

Chandigarh: 24th July, 2023: (Kartika Singh/Arth Parkash) :: A 5-day International Public Health Management Development Program (IPHMDP) specially designed for medical professionals from Nepal will be held at Hotel Parkview, Sector 24 Chandigarh from 24th July-28th July 2023. The program, 22nd in its series since year 2016, will be organized by the Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh & is a flagship program of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India under the Indian Technical Economic Corporation (ITEC) scheme. This program aims to build the leadership and management capacity of middle and senior-level managers of 161 countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean as well as Pacific and Small Island countries. This program has already trained around,1080+ participants from 85+ countries over the last 7 years.

International Public HealthManagement Development Program Kick-starts at  PGIMER | Mirror 365This 'one of its kind' program sponsored by MEA, also aims to enhance the understanding of medical professionals from Nepal governmentabout best practices of Public Health in India, said Dr Sonu Goel, Director of IPHMDP and Professor in PGIMER Chandigarh. He said that the program  will also build the capacity of delegates in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating program operations in context of their respective countries and equip them with management and leadership skills especially in challenging situations like COVID19.

The program shall be taught by eminent faculty including Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Chairman, Domain Leadership foundation,Former Director, IIHMR, and National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC) New Delhi; Maj. Gen. Prof Atul Kotwal, Executive Director, NHSRC; and Prof. Rajni Bagga, Former Professor, NIHFW, New Delhi, Dr. Arun.k Aggarwal, Head of Department of Community Medicine and School Of Public Health, PGIMER Chandigarh,Dr. S.N. Panda, Professor and Director Research, Chitkara University research and innovation network, Prof. Keerti Pradhan, Professor, Health Management, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chadha- formerProfessor & Ex. Chairman, University Business School, Panjab University& Dr. Sonu Goel, Program Director and professor, PGIMER Chandigarh.


International Public Health Management Development Program is a testament to the commitment of PGIMER Chandigarh and the medical community to advancing healthcare practices and collaborations beyond borders, said Maj. Gen. Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kotwal, Executive Director, NHSRC. By fostering an environment of shared learning and expertise, this program aims to empower the participating medical professionals from Nepal to make significant contributions to public health initiatives in their home country, he said.

The program will be delivered through various learning methodologies like case studies, management games, quizzes, role plays, videos, mobile applications, etc. Besides, they shall be visiting various departments in PGIMER to witness various levels of health care facilities. Yoga, meditation, bhangra, and laughter sessions are also planned forthe participants to re-energize themselves and learn about Indian cultural practises throughout the course of the programme. In addition, a cultural event featuring informal interactions between participants is scheduled for July 27th in order to facilitate networking and peer learning for future projects.The course would end on 28th July with a Valedictory ceremony awarding the best participants.

After the program, the delegation will make an Action Plan for their Country based on the learning of the program which will be followed up by the program organizers when they will send the Action Plan Implementation Report after 3 months of the program.
