A convict from Tihar jail swallowed phone, when officers came in for a search

When officials arrived to perform a search on him due to suspicion, a Tihar Jail inmate swallowed a cellphone. On Wednesday, there was an incident in Delhi.

Director-General of Tihar Jail, Sandeep Goel said."On January 5, 2022, one inmate of Jail no.1, Tihar, swallowed a mobile phone when our staff approached him for search on suspicion."

The convict was sent to Delhi's Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital after the event. His health was described as stable by authorities.

"Though his condition is fine so far, the mobile phone is still in his stomach," Sandeep Goel further said.
