Air Asia India: AAI has been paid in full

AirAsia India said on Wednesday that it has paid off all outstanding obligations to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and will resume making payments on due dates in September 2021, pursuant to credit terms. To utilize facilities at the AAI's more than 100 airports, an airline must pay the AAI, which is under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, for air navigation, landing, and parking, among other things.

According to AAI internal data, AirAsia India's dues to the AAI grew from Rs 1.47 crore in January 2020 to Rs 3.58 crore in October 2021, as reported by PTI on December 26.

"We have paid all our dues as per the contract with AAI. We are making all payments as per credit terms on due dates from September and there are no dues as on date," On Wednesday, an AirAsia India spokeswoman informed PTI.

According to the spokeswoman, operational costs rise in direct proportion to the number of flights and passengers carried.

The spokesperson further added, "In this period, from September to today, we have paid out Rs 59 crore within the due dates as per the policy of the Airports Authority."

IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir, AirAsia India, Air India, and Vistara, India's six largest domestic airlines, owing to the AAI Rs 2,306.59 crore as of January 1, 2020, according to AAI papers seen by PTI.

According to the records, by October 31, 2021, these debts had risen by 14.29 percent to Rs 2,636.34 crore.
