Cordelia Cruises' CEO said lack of government empathy.

Cordelia Cruises' CEO said the company followed all Covid regulations despite a lack of government empathy.

Cordelia Cruises stated on Tuesday that it followed all Covid processes and cooperated with all rules set down by the Directorate General of Shipping in India. According to the company's CEO, the crew member who tested Covid positive for the first time was isolated as soon as his symptoms appeared. He, on the other hand, said that the authorities lacked empathy because no one was allowed to disembark the ship in Goa.

During a Mumbai-Goa cruise on Monday, 66 guests onboard one of the company's ships tested positive for Covid.

"All crew members, as well as passengers, have had to undergo an RT-PCR test no more than 48 hours prior to boarding, since our cruise set sail in September 2021 with 1,400 guests on board." According to Jurgen Bailom, CEO and President of Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd, which owns the Cordelia brand, "the RT-PCR is necessary, as is being double-vaccinated for both staff and all guests onboard."

"At the time of boarding, all of the passengers on the cruise had tested negative in their RT-PCR. They had been completely immunised as well.

All guests and employees were subjected to further testing when one crew member, who happened to be someone who works in the back of the home, developed mild symptoms on board last Sunday and was immediately isolated. According to Bailom's statement, "the results of which showed that a few visitors and one crew member onboard have tested positive."

"I want to emphasise that the crew member who developed mild symptoms did so extremely close to departure and was safely segregated right away." This means that for more than 15 hours, the crew member was not exposed to anyone or vice versa," it continued.

"Not only have our ship and management fully cooperated with the authorities, but they have also paid all additional costs, such as testing all guests, transporting them, and so on." It was distressing to see the officials' lack of humanity in not allowing locals or tourists to disembark. The cruise, on the other hand, would transport them back to Mumbai and arrange for their return flights to Goa," Bailom explained.

He said that no officials were present at the time of the incident at the port. "The cruise was simply following the collector's erratic instructions," he explained.
