Frontline workers and children aged 15 to 18 will be vaccinated, according to the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his address to the nation that youngsters aged 15 to 18 will begin receiving vaccine shots on January 3, 2022. He praised India's healthcare system, as well as frontline workers, doctors, and researchers, for their persistent efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

He encouraged residents to be cautious and avoid hysteria and disinformation. He also stated that beginning January 10, 2022, frontline health professionals will receive an additional preventative vaccine dose.

In his address, Modi wished the nation a merry Christmas and warned that as people prepare to welcome the new year, they must also be wary of the development of the infectious Omicron strain of the novel coronavirus.

"While you are all excited to welcome 2022, you must also be cautious, as the new Coronavirus type, Omicron, has raised concerns," he said.

He continued by saying that as the virus evolves, so does our ability to combat it. There are 18 lakh beds and 5 lakh oxygen-assisted beds. Modi stated that 90,000 beds have been prepared solely for children.

He claimed that about 90% of those who were eligible had received at least one dose. "It's a source of pride that we were able to implement such an effective immunisation programme on such a large scale." It's a testament to the quality of our health-care institutions, medical people, and collaborative delivery," Modi remarked.

"We were aware of the necessity for immunizations, as well as the requirement for study, approval, and certification." It was as a result of this that India began vaccination on January 16th. PM Modi stated, "We have crossed the figure of 141.1 crore immunised."
