No new year celebration in various Indian cities
In Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, there will be no New Year's Eve celebrations.
Restrictive restrictions have been put in place amid the worry of Omicron, thus metro cities Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru will ring in the new year with zero to muted celebrations.
Omicron is the most recent version of SARS-CoV-2, and it is spreading faster than Delta, while its effects are not as severe. India's Omicron tally has surpassed 800 in less than a month since the first cases were discovered.
Delhi
1. After issuing a yellow alert on Tuesday, Delhi went into a mini-lockdown. The prohibitions do not apply only to New Year's Eve parties. Delhi's schools, universities, and movie theatres are all closed.
2. On New Year's Eve in Delhi, no cultural event, gathering, or congregation is permitted.
3. Restaurants, bars, and auditoriums are permitted to operate at half-capacity.
Bombay
1. No New Year's Eve celebrations are permitted in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area, whether in a confined or open space.
2. Between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., gatherings of more than 5 people are prohibited in public places.
3. Restaurants, gyms, and movie theatres can operate at 50% of their capacity.
Bengaluru
1. From December 30 to January 2, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, and pubs will operate at half-capacity.
2. Beginning December 28, all gatherings, meetings, and conferences, including weddings, should strictly limit the number of attendees to 300.
3. From December 28 to January 7, a night curfew will be in effect in all parts of Bengaluru from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
4. No public New Year's Eve celebrations will be permitted anywhere in the city.
Chennai
1.Marina Beach, Elliots Beach, Neelankarai, and Each Coast Road are prohibited from assembling.
2. From 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., vehicles will not be permitted on Marina Beach, from the War Memorial to the Gandhi Statue, Kamaraj Road, and Besant Nagar Elliots Beach Road.
3. New Year's Eve celebrations are prohibited on RK Salai, Rajaji Salai, Kamarajar Salai, Anna Salai, GST Road, and various arterial roads.
4. Business events will not be held at resorts, farmhouses, golf equipment, or conference centres. In public places, no DJ events or dance programming are permitted.
