IndiGo Airlines to cancel 20% flights as Covid cases surge
IndiGo enables free rescheduling and reduces the number of flights
Changes to bookings will not be charged a cost until March 31, according to IndiGo. The decision was made because many people are being forced to change their vacation plans as a result of Covid, according to the statement.
As a result of the increasing number of Covid-19 instances, IndiGo has announced that it will allow passengers to reschedule their flights at no additional cost. IndiGo has said that no fees will be imposed for modifications to bookings made up until March 31.
IndiGo announced in a news release that “huge numbers of IndiGo customers are reconsidering their trip plans due to the increasing number of Omicron illnesses.” IndiGo is abolishing change fees and allowing free alterations for all new and current bookings made up to the 31st of January for flights up to the 31st of March 2022, in response to customer demand. Due to lower demand, we will be removing some of our flights from service on a case-by-case basis.”
“Where possible, flight cancellations will be done at least 72 hours in advance, and customers will be moved to the next available flight,” the statement continued. “Customers will also be able to change their travel through the use of Plan B on our website.”
Around 20% of the airline’s existing scheduled operations would be cancelled, according to the company.
IndiGo claims on its website that ‘Plan B’ allows travellers to simply reschedule their flights. “If your flight is cancelled or rescheduled by us, you can use Plan B to change the time and/or date of your flight, or cancel and process a refund, at no additional cost…there are no further charges,” it says. At no additional cost, you can change the time and/or date of your flight, or cancel and receive a refund.”
“In the event that your flight is cancelled or rescheduled as a result of our actions, your flight booking will fall under Plan B.” In this event, you will be contacted. If the PNR is eligible for Plan B, the Plan B link will be presented when retrieving the itinerary online.”
IndiGo has indicated that passengers are also entitled to use Plan B if flights have been cancelled or the timing rescheduled—by at least one hour or by at least two hours from the scheduled departure time.
