Kerala sets New Year's instructions, enforces night curfew from December 30 to January 2

The Kerala government enforced a night curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. commencing December 30 due to an increase in instances of the Omicron strain of Covid-19 in the country. According to authorities, the night curfew will be in effect until January 2. Kerala became the latest state to implement night curfews, joining a growing list of governments that have done so.

Late-night New Year's Eve parties were practically outlawed under the new rules.

New Year's Eve celebrations in the state will be prohibited after 10 p.m., according to the authorities.

On Monday, Kerala recorded 1,636 new infections, bringing the total number of cases of viral sickness to 52,24,929. According to an official news statement, the state additionally recorded 236 deaths, bringing the total death toll to 46,822.
