PSIEC marks its presence in e-commerce market by onboarding it’s brand ‘Phulkari’ on Flipkart’s ‘Samarth’ initiative
Chandigarh, January 7:
In a move aimed to strengthen its handicraft and traditional art industry and provide forward linkages to the artisans in Punjab, Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation (PSIEC) marked its presence in the e-commerce market by onboarding it’s brand ‘Phulkari’ on Flipkart’s ‘Samarth’ initiative.
Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Gurkirat Singh applauded PSIEC and Flipkart for a successful collaboration that is set to change the course of Punjab’s handicraft industry through innovative means. Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Tejveer Singh, CEO Invest Punjab Rajat Agarwal, Managing Director PSIEC Kumar Amit and Chairman Punjab Infotech Harpreet Singh Sandhu also present during the occasion.
Principal Secretary Tejveer Singh discussed with the members present, the long term vision of PSIEC and the systematic progression that has been planned for this year.
Representatives from Flipkart delivered a brief presentation about the salient features of the ‘Samarth’ initiative. The brick and click model of ‘Phulkari’ will help in the availability of Punjab’s quality handicrafts across the country. PSIEC plans to boost its linkages across the rural areas of Punjab and source directly from the Artisans as well as the Self Help Groups in Punjab, bringing them to the mainstream market.
At present, quality handicrafts under various categories will be available under the brand "Phulkari" and even more products will be made available in coming months.
