A day after he left the Bharatiya Janata Party, an arrest warrant was issued for ex-UP minister Swami Prasad Maurya in a seven-year-old case.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a huge blow only days before the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. Swami Prasad Maurya, a cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, resigned from the BJP. Four other MLAs close to him, Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati, Bhagwati Sagar, and Vinay Shakya, announced their resignations in the hours that followed.
Importantly, it has been reported that for a few months, Maurya was disgruntled with the organisation and the government. He had previously stated that if the BJP were to retake power in Uttar Pradesh, the decision on the next chief minister would be made at a gathering of the legislature party following the election.
“Any other face can be sent by the high command.” It’s also possible for the CM face to be someone else. “The central leadership will make all decisions,” he stated.
According to sources, Maurya lacked faith in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership and was enraged by his working manner.
The second reason is that Swami Prasad Maurya was requesting a ticket for his son Ashok to attend the Legislative Assembly. However, because Swami Prasad Maurya was an MLA and a minister, the BJP was hesitant to accept the proposal. Maurya represents the Kushinagar Vidhan Sabha seat of Padrauna. Sanghamitra Maurya, his daughter, is a member of the BJP’s Badaun Lok Sabha constituency.
With Swami Prasad Maurya’s resignation, the BJP faces huge challenges in retaining 13-14 MLAs and disgruntled ministers. According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has entrusted Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya with the task of persuading Swami Prasad Maurya. Swatantra Dev Singh of the Uttar Pradesh BJP and Sunil Bansal of the BJP will meet with the remaining ‘angry’ MLAs.
Other ministers are also expected to leave the BJP soon, according to reports. Maurya’s departure, on the other hand, stems from a slew of previous problems. He was already enraged by the state of the Uttar Pradesh government. Before the 2017 UP Legislative Assembly election, Swami Prasad Maurya deserted the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and joined the BJP.
