On Thursday, India reported around 2.47 lakh new cases of Covid-19, the highest single-day increase in the current outbreak. Active cases currently number 11,17,531, with 84,825 recoveries and 380 fatalities. The daily positivity rate has increased to 13.11 percent.
The total number of cases of Omicron in India has risen to 5,488, with Maharashtra (1,367) and Rajasthan (792) accounting for the most cases. Meanwhile, there are 549 cases in Delhi, 486, 479 in Kerala, 294 in Karnataka, and 275 in Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually meet with chief ministers today to discuss the Covid crisis.
