The Air Accident Investigation Sector of the UAE has initiated an investigation into the near-collision situation that occurred at Dubai Airport on January 9 when two India-bound flights were scheduled to take off five minutes apart on the same runway. According to news agency ANI, hundreds of innocents were averted after the take-off was instantly rejected.

A person who witnessed the incident told, "EK-524 from Dubai-Hyderabad was accelerating for take-off from runway 30R when the crew saw an aircraft coming in the same direction at high speed. Take-off was immediately instructed by ATC to be rejected. The aircraft slowed down safely and cleared the runway via taxiway N4, which crossed the runway. Another emirates flight EK-568, from Dubai to Bangalore, was rolling for departure was to take-off from same runway 30R."

The flight to Bengaluru took off, while the airplane to Hyderabad returned to the taxi bay to wait. Emirates AIR confirmed that a safety breach occurred on January 9 but maintained there was no damage to the aircraft.

The airline said, "On 9 January, flight EK524 was instructed by air traffic control to reject take-off on departure from Dubai and this was completed successfully."

An internal investigation has also begun.

It was a near-disaster incident, according to insiders. According to Aviation Herald, the Hyderabad-bound jet was on the runway without receiving clearance to take off. The Bengaluru-bound airplane had been cleared for takeoff by air traffic control.

The take-off for the Hyderabad-bound flight was canceled. The plane had traveled 2,600 feet down the runway and was traveling at 130 knots at the time. The plane's speed was reduced by the pilots.
