Govind Singh Thakur, the Himachal Pradesh education minister, and Suresh Kashyap, the state BJP president, were among the 1,975 persons who tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, setting a new record.

The overall number of cases in Himachal now stands at 2,40,330. In addition, this was the state’s largest single-day rise. The state had previously reported 1,804 instances in a single day on Wednesday. After one patient died from the virus, the death toll climbed to 3,872.

“I had separated myself for the previous two days since I was not feeling well. Covid-19 was found in my system. My health is fine, save from little symptoms. “Those who have met me are asked to keep an eye on their health and submit to the test,” the education minister posted on Facebook.

Kashyap, the state party’s president, also used social media to announce that he had tested positive. “After experiencing some symptoms, I had my Covid-19 tested, which came back positive. He wrote, “I’m in self-isolation and closely following the doctor’s advice.”

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed his concern about a cabinet colleague and state party chief testing positive for the illness, and wished them a rapid recovery. He also wished for the co-in-charge of the party’s quick recovery.
