On Friday, 1,834 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Chandigarh, setting a new high for the third day in a row. The city’s greatest single-day total in the second wave of the pandemic was 895 cases on May 9, 2021, but it was topped on January 10 with 967 cases. The positivity rate in Chandigarh is 25.21%.
On Friday, the union territory reported two more fatalities, a 44-year-old unvaccinated man with diabetes and kidney difficulties, and a 50-year-old fully vaccinated lady with hypertension. Since the epidemic began, 1,086 people have died in Chandigarh.
