Dharamshala Skyway, a 1.8-kilometer ropeway connecting Dharamshala and Mcleodganj in Kangra district, was inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday.
“Construction of this ropeway began in 2018 and was created as a public-private partnership project by Dharamshala Ropeway Limited and the Himachal Pradesh tourism and civil aviation department under the DFBOT (design, finance, construct, operate, transfer) model,” CM Thakur stated.
“This ropeway will help solve Mcleodganj traffic problems while also establishing it as a tourism destination.” This ropeway will transport 1,000 passengers in one hour in one direction, and it will take five minutes to get from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj. It consists of ten towers and two stations. “In this complex undertaking, mono cable detachable gondola technology was utilized,” Thakur stated.
Despite the pandemic, he claimed that the ropeway was completed on time. The ropeway would also help to conserve the environment by reducing automobile emissions, as the majority of people would now use this environmentally benign means of transportation for local commuting.
