A major fire broke out about 7 a.m. on the 18th floor of the Kamla building opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank in Mumbai’s Tardeo neighbourhood, injuring at least 15 people.

In the massive blaze that started around 7 a.m. on the 18th floor of the Kamla building opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank in Mumbai’s Tardeo area, another 15 people were injured.

Officials claimed the injured were taken to three local hospitals, with five people dying at Nair Hospital, one at Kasturba Hospital, and another at Bhatia Hospital as a result of their injuries.

Priti Gandhi, a BJP leader, tweeted a video clip from the incident, saying, “Excuses will be made, shaky justifications will be offered, and life will go on as usual. If the city is to survive, the strongest political will is essential. The pains of unaccountability as a Mumbaikar!!”

Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the Maharashtra BJP president and MLA, described the occurrence as “unfortunate.”

Two of them were brought dead, according to doctors at the Nair Hospital, while the status of the other two is stable and they are being treated,” a BM official said.

Twelve of the 15 injured people who were carried to the Bhatia Hospital were admitted to the general ward, according to doctors. Three others are in serious condition and are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), according to him.

Six elderly persons need oxygen support and were sent to the hospital. The flames are under control, but the smoke is massive. “Everyone has been saved,” claimed Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray stated on Saturday that he is in close contact with authorities and that rescue and cooling efforts are ongoing.

According to several residents, the building’s power supply was turned off after the incident, according to a BMC official. When the fire broke out, many of the building’s tenants were sleeping.

Several people were rescued, and 29 of them were transferred to various hospitals in the area since some of them were hurt, while others complained of health issues such as suffocation.”
