These unions, the Air India Employees’ Union (AIEU) and the All India Cabin Crew Association (AICCA), wrote to Dutt on Monday contesting the decision, claiming that it is dehumanising and in breach of DGCA norms.

The BMI is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilogrammes by the square of their height in metres. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website, “a high BMI can suggest significant body fatness.”
