K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, was not present at the Hyderabad airport on Saturday to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CM has missed receiving the PM at the airport for the second time in the last several months. He didn't show up for ICRISAT's 50th anniversary celebrations either.
Rao is suffering from a fever, according to sources at Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister's official house.
Modi arrived here this afternoon to dedicate the 'Statue of Equality,' which honours the 11th-century Bhakti saint Sri Ramanujacharya, as well as to kick off ICRISAT's 50th anniversary celebrations.
According to reports, VIPs who greeted Modi at the airport included Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy, and Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
According to a statement from the CMO, Talasani Srinivas Yadav has been nominated to greet and see off Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival and departure during his visit to the city today.
Rao recently asserted that the Union Budget 2022-23 was a betrayal against the people, labelling it as a "golmaal budget" that disappointed farmers, workers, and ordinary people.
He had said that both the Congress and the BJP had failed to help the country realise its full potential, and that he would work to bring about qualitative change.
KCR mocked the Prime Minister for dressing up for the elections a few days ago. KCR had previously stated that such responsibilities were unimportant. At the same time, the Telangana BJP slammed the Telangana Chief Minister for missing the Prime Minister's arrival at the airport for the second time in a row.
The act, according to the state BJP, was "insulting and totally dumb" on the part of the Chief Minister. The BJP further claimed that the Chief Minister regularly insulted the Constitution.
In his post-Budget speech, KCR blasted both the BJP and the Congress, claiming that the country requires a new movement, similar to the one that led to the founding of Telangana. Both the BJP and the Congress were irritated by his push for a new constitution.
The Telangana BJP, in response to KCR's 'attack' on the 'Constitution,' claimed on Saturday that while KCR habitually abuses the 'Constitution,' he is now breaking protocols, which is "idiotic and disgusting."
Meanwhile, BJP leader Raja Singh slammed KCR, saying, "KCR said some incorrect statements on PM Modi a few days back. At the time, I asked KCR to convey PM Modi these comments face to face when he visited Telangana. PM Modi visited Telangana today, but the Chief Minister became unwell. As a result, you'll be able to comprehend what occurred."
