As a mark of respect for singer Lata Mangeshkar, who died earlier in the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party postponed the unveiling of its manifesto for the Uttar Pradesh election on Sunday.

A two-minute silence was observed in Lucknow city in honour of Mangeshkar by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Adityanath, and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The release of the manifesto has been postponed due to the singer’s death, according to BJP Uttar Pradesh head Swatantra Dev Singh, and a new date would be announced soon.
At an event in Lucknow, Singh observed, “A personality like hers comes once in a century.” “Not only to the realm of music, but to social life as a whole, her passing is an irreparable loss.”
All political events in poll-bound Goa, including a rally where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to appear, were cancelled by the BJP’s Goa branch. Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s launch of the party’s manifesto in Goa has also been postponed.
Meanwhile, the Congress has told its workers not to celebrate in any way after the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab election was announced, India Today reported, citing anonymous sources.
The Congress will pay tribute to Mangeshkar and play her song “Ae mere watan ke logon” at a virtual rally in Ludhiana on Sunday, according to sources.
On Sunday morning, the playback singer died in a Mumbai hospital. She was admitted to the hospital on January 8 after being diagnosed with pneumonia and Covid-19. Despite the fact that she recovered from both diseases, she remained in the hospital for observation.
On Sunday evening, Mangeshkar will be cremated with full state honours at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.
In its manifesto, the BJP planned to announce that under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, financial support to farmers would be doubled.
According to sources, the saffron party was planning to declare computers for students and scootys for college-bound female students and working women in its manifesto, as well as three free LPG cylinders every year under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Both Shah and Adityanath observed a two-minute silence earlier in the day to pay tribute to the singing legend.
Following Mangeshkar’s death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies in Uttar Pradesh and Goa were also cancelled.

Following the death of Lata Mangeshkar’s singer, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told news agency ANI that the party has cancelled the PM’s rally and other significant party engagements. Following the death of the iconic singer, Sawant stated that a two-day state of mourning would be observed.
The BJP in Goa was also expected to present its election platform for the forthcoming assembly elections. Nitin Gadkari’s meeting has also been postponed, according to him.
Meanwhile, following the announcement of the party’s chief ministerial candidate in Punjab, the Congress has warned its workers not to celebrate.
Lata Mangeshkar has died at the age of 92
Awardee of the Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, who was 92 years old, died on Sunday. On January 8, the megastar was hospitalized to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. Despite having recovered from COVID, the singer was placed on ventilator support on Saturday as her condition deteriorated.
Her final rites will be performed with full State honors in Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. At 12.30 p.m., the singer’s mortal remains will be transported from the hospital to her home in Prabhu Kunj. Her mortal remains will stay on the premises until 3 p.m.
Dr. Pratit Samdani, who was treating Lata Mangeshkar at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, said today, “We report the sad death of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12 a.m. with great sadness. After more than 28 days in the hospital following COVID-19, she died of multi-organ failure.”
She began her career at the age of 13 in 1942, when she was born on September 28, 1929. Over the course of her seven-decade career, the melody queen recorded over a thousand Hindi film songs. She had sang songs in around thirty-six Indian regional languages as well as other languages. She was just the second vocalist, after MS Subbulakshmi, to be granted the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001 for her achievements to the country.
