Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to and referenced Jawaharlal Nehru repeatedly today in parliament as he criticised the opposition Congress, without mentioning Rahul Gandhi, who had criticised the government last week.

In response to criticism of inflation under his watch, Prime Minister Modi referred to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru’s address to the nation from the Red Fort.

He stated that his government was attempting to control inflation and that it was a top priority for him.

‘The war in Korea affects us,’ Pandit Nehru stated from the Red Fort (back when there was no globalisation). As a result, prices rise and spiral out of our control.’ PM Modi described how India’s first Prime Minister threw up his hands in front of the country.

“Whatever happens in America has an impact on the price of our commodities.” Imagine how bad the inflation crisis was if Nehru had to say it from the Red Fort. If you were in power now, you’d blame inflation on the coronavirus and flee.”

As the Congress complained, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joked: “You complain that I don’t use the name Pandit ji. Today, I’ll keep repeating Nehru ji – have fun… You keep claiming that Modi-ji doesn’t use Nehru’s name. As a result, I am granting your wish.”

PM Modi mocked the Congress for winning 44 seats in the 2014 national election, saying the Congress won on the slogan “Garibi Hatao (remove poverty),” but the “Garib removed them.”

Those who do not learn from history, according to PM Modi, risk “losing themselves in it.”

He also rebutted Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the government favoured only a small number of industrialists.

Some members of Congress refer to some entrepreneurs as “corona variations.” It’s known as the AA version. People used to say Tata-Birla ki Sarkar during the regimes of Nehru and Indira Gandhi. “Now you’re speaking their language,” Prime Minister Modi stated.

“Those who are accustomed to living in palaces have no idea what tiny farmers face,” he remarked.

In his statement to parliament this week, Rahul Gandhi mentioned his great grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru.

“My great grandfather was imprisoned for 15 years while attempting to construct this structure. Indira Gandhi, my grandmother, was shot 32 times. My father (Rajiv Gandhi) was assassinated. So I have a basic understanding of the situation. You’re tinkering with something extremely hazardous. I’m advising you to come to a halt. You will cause a problem if you do not stop. The issue has already begun “Mr Gandhi charged the BJP with arrogance and a refusal to listen to states.
