‘Maha Safai Abhiyan' on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, a district-wide cleanliness programme will begin on February 13 in Panchkula. Shri Mahavir Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner, today chaired over a meeting with officials from the various department in the District Secretariat auditorium to discuss the Maha-Safai Abhiyan and reviewed the preparations for various activities to be held during this period.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 16th, the State Government has decided to launch a Maha-cleanliness campaign across the state beginning February 13th. Shri Devendra Babli, the Development and Panchayat Minister representing the Tohana assembly constituency, will kick off the campaign, he added.

Shri Mahavir Kaushik informed that in Panchkula district, Maha-cleanliness campaign will be conducted in all 128-gram panchayats, for which the concerned BDPOs of all the four blocks – Barwala, Raipurrani, Pinjore and Morni have been appointed in-charge. Health, Education, Irrigation and Water Resources, Development and Panchayat Department, Haryana State Rural and Livelihood Mission, District Program Officer, Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, in collaboration with all the Block Coordinators, organized various activities in the villages falling in their respective areas. do. The Deputy Commissioner directed that active participation of villagers should be ensured in all these activities.

Along with the villages, he said, a cleanliness drive would be initiated in government offices and buildings, with office heads ensuring that their specific offices are clean. He stated that as part of the ‘Maha-Safai Abhiyan,’ villagers, various social groups, NGOs, MGNREGA workers, and past sarpanches would participate in Shramdaan activities to collect plastic garbage. Aside from that, cleanliness teams will clean up the garbage piles in the villages. Cleaning campaigns will be held at all religious locations with the participation of local residents.

He said that similarly other activities to be organized under Maha-Safai Abhiyan include cleaning of streets, drains and community sanitation complexes and making women aware of their health through ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Apart from this, the process of washing hands with soap will also be demonstrated in schools with the aim of making children aware of cleanliness.

Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Kamalpreet Kaur, Deputy DEO Anju Grover, BDPO Pinjore Martinna Mahajan, BDPO Barwala Vishal Parashar, BDPO Raipurrani Parmanandan, Dr. Anuj Bishnoi, SDO Sukhwinder Singh of Irrigation Department, Vinod Kumar, SDE of Public Health Engineering Department, and Block Coordinators of all four blocks were present at the meeting.
