A magnificent photo of the Chenab bridge in J&K, which is the world’s highest railway bridge, was recently shared, and you have to see it to believe it.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted a photo of the Chenab bridge’s arch, which is also the world’s highest railway bridge, on Monday. “The world’s highest arch Chenab Bridge over the clouds,” stated a note accompanying the picture on the Koo app.

With mountains in the background, the photograph represents the bridge arching above the clouds. The 1,315-meter Cheban bridge, located in J&K’s Reasi area, aims to improve connectivity to the valley.

With a height of 359 metres above river level, the bridge is the world’s highest railway bridge. The bridge is 35 metres taller than France’s Eiffel Tower.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also shared more images. Sambit Patra’s photos show the bridge arch from a variety of angles.

“What a spectacular photo of the 1315 m long Chenab bridge arch in Reasi, J&K,” Patra added, describing it as a “engineering masterpiece.” The bridge is a great feat of engineering. The bridge will be 359 metres above riverbed level, making it taller than the Eiffel Tower. The bridge would improve access to Kashmir’s valley.”

The ‘Tekla’ software was used for structural detailing of the bridge, according to the Railway Ministry. Furthermore, the structural steel utilized is suitable for temperatures ranging from -10 to 40 degrees Celsius, according to the report.

The bridge, which would cost Rs 1,250 crore to build, is anticipated to open to train traffic in December 2022.

The area’s difficult topography posed a significant challenge. While the project was supposed to be finished in 2009, it was put on hold in 2008 due to safety and stability concerns. Work on the project resumed in 2010, with the goal of having it completed by 2015, but it was only completed in 2017, with the opening date set for 2022.

While the Konkan Railway Corporation is supposed to have made the key building decisions for the bridge, the DRDO is said to have assisted in its design utilising an unique steel that is said to be ‘blast proof.’

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project is constructing the bridge.
