By the first half of 2022, India will see the start of an accelerated 5G infrastructure rollout in both urban & rural areas, according to Dell Technologies India.

This development would increase smartphone penetration and give the country’s digital outlook a new dimension, he said, leading to increased adoption of advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, Industrial IoT, edge computing, and robotics across industries such as agriculture, e-commerce, healthcare, education, and medical products.

Enterprises across domains would be able to use the internet the tide of digital opportunities to enhance productivity as 5G networks bring in a more quicker and more dependable network situation, he noted.

“5G will deliver greater connectivity, the promise of faster digital functions, more flexibility and wider reach, enhanced customer experiences, and easier management of data-driven operations for organisations across disciplines,” Mr. Tewari continued.

5G, he claims, will offer up a world of technical possibilities for all types of organisations. Remote procedures, improved image processing, access to patient reports, and faster data processing, for example, can be easily accomplished in healthcare. With 5G, smart factories will become a reality, allowing for increasing automation and adoption of AI and ML, augmented impresive reality, and IoT, resulting in increased safety and higher performance through the use of robotics, AR, and drones for training and maintenance.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things, often known as Industry 4.0, will lower production costs, improve quality, and increase yields,” he predicts.

Private 5G networks are also expected to provide businesses with advantages such as greater control over applications and devices, high bandwidth and low latency support for AI and machine learning use cases involving thousands of endpoints, and the ability to generate large amounts of data within a single facility. According to Mr. Tewari

“Private 5G networks will be critical in addressing the rising demands of edge-based, data-intensive workloads and delivering seamless and streamlined solutions for businesses,” he continued.

By 2025, 5G networks are predicted to cover one-third of the global population, and by 2027, they will account for nearly half of all mobile customers. According to a report by GlobalData Plc, a data analytics and consultancy firm located in London, the Asia Pacific region is predicted to lead 5G adoption, with India becoming the world’s largest 5G market with over 500 million subscriptions in the next five years.

In March-April 2022, the government intends to organize 5G spectrum auctions. The Department of Transportation asked TRAI for advice on the reserve price, band plan, block size, and quantum of spectrum to be auctioned in September of this year.

TRAI, for one, has begun discussions with industry players on the subject.

“In terms of 5G service deployment, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) M/s Bharti Airtel, M/s Reliance Jio, and M/s Vodafone Idea have established 5G testing sites in Gurugram, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhi Nagar.”

These metros and major cities will be the first to receive 5G services in the country next year, according to the announcement.

Experts have stated that there is a need for regulatory clarity in the 5G implementation.

“Right now, the most essential item that needs to be clarified is on the regulatory side.” It involves the licensing of the spectrum in order to make it available and on fair and acceptable conditions. Each country must establish what it is specifically.

The question of whether spectrum pricing is too high has been debated.

And I believe there are many things that can be done to ensure that money is available to build coverage for the Indian people,” said Magnus Ewerbring, Ericsson’s chief technology officer for the Asia Pacific, in a recent interview.

“As soon as it happens, 5G will move at a breakneck pace.” The devices are ready, and the service providers are ready as well. He went on to say, “We need clarity on what frequency bands and other terms and conditions.”
