The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train station would be the first to be built on the route.

The project to build a bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be the country’s first.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) is in charge of the project’s construction.

Chainage 264 has begun construction for the Surat station. “At the same time, work on roots, permanent steel, and pillars between Chainage 358 and 360 is underway in Bharuch district,” a high-speed rail project.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project spans 508.17 kilometres, with 155.76 kilometres in Maharashtra, 384.04 kilometres in Gujarat, and 4.3 kilometres in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Aside from Surat, development on three more stations, Vapi, Bilimora, and Bharuch, has been accelerated, and all four will be operational by December 2024.

The bullet train project would also include stops in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, Thane, Virar, Boisor, Ahmedabad’s Vadodra, and Sabarmati.

The project is expected to cost more than Rs. 1 lakh crore, with the Japan International Cooperation Agency contributing Rs. 88,000 crore (JICA).

The Surat station is expected to be completed by December 2024, according to media reports. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced last year that the first bullet train would be tested on a 50-kilometer track between Surat and Bilimora in 2026.
