CHANDIGARH: The Union Territory of Chandigarh declared a 'Dry Day' from 6 p.m. on February 18 until the conclusion of the Punjab Assembly elections on February 20.
All star campaigners and non-voters have been requested to leave the constituency by 6 p.m. today, according to the Election Commission.
On the 20th of February, Punjab will hold a single-phase election. A new cabinet will be chosen by a vote of the people in the state.
Because of the escalating number of Covid-19 cases in the state, the Poll Commission of India (ECI) has previously postponed the election date from 14 February to 20 February.
All rallies and public meetings will end at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 18th, according to ECI.
Candidates and their supporters, on the other hand, have been asked to do door-to-door silent campaigning after that.
Outsiders and non-voters will be removed from the constituency by Punjab Police and central paramilitary forces, who will begin searching hotels, lodges, community centres, and other locations.
This is the third phase of the country's Assembly elections, which are taking place in g=five states: Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa.
