When Manmohan Singh was prime minister, "several Alia, Malia, Jamalia used to enter the country and behead the soldiers," according to Union home minister Amit Shah, who claimed the Congress received assistance from Akhilesh Yadav. Shah made the statements in Uttar Pradesh just days after Punjab Chief Minister Manmohan Singh urged voters not to vote for the BJP.

On Thursday, Singh launched a stinging attack on the BJP-led Centre, claiming that it has been in power for seven years and still blames India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, for the country's woes. In a speech to Punjab citizens, Singh warned them against the BJP's "divisive politics," saying the saffron party was attempting to "defame Punjab and Punjabiyat."

“Till 10 years, the Sonia-Manmohan Singh government was at the Centre with support from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP). Often many Alia, Malia, Jamalia used to enter India and behead our soldiers. Yet, the PM couldn't do anything about it.”

Shah made the remarks at a rally in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

When the Pulwama assault happened, "they thought the BJP government would react in the same way as previous governments did in the past," Shah added. He further said, “However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took on the terrorists at their homes by conducting surgical strikes.”

The home minister went on to say that in Uttar Pradesh, since Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assumed office, there are no longer any "bahubalis," only "bajarangbalis."

The opposition had chastised the BJP for its decision to repeal Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Amit Shah stated on Saturday that the move was a huge success. Shah, using his trademark "bua-bhatija (aunt-nephew)" statement to poke fun at Mayawati's BSP and Akhilesh Yadav's SP, claimed that before the BJP, households in Uttar Pradesh didn't have access to electricity all day.

He went on to say that this is the type of development work done in Uttar Pradesh by the saffron camp, “Since the BJP came in power, all households get 22-24 hours of electricity,”

He said that since the BJP's entrance into the state, dacoity has fallen by 72 percent, looting by 62 percent, murder by 31 percent, and rapes by 50 percent in the northern state. The numbers were presented by the minister while alluding to a question that he said SP president Akhilesh had asked him a few days prior.

Shah said in a rally, “He (Akhilesh) asked me what the BJP government has done to improve the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. I want to tell him that people who see through tinted glasses, see everything in the same shape.”

Amit Shah further added, For four generations that the Congress reigned in Uttar Pradesh, the party was unable to provide a gas cylinder to the people of the state.”

The home minister said in its 75 years of independence, India has not had a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi, who thinks of the country's underprivileged population and worked for them.

On Holi and Diwali, he claimed, if his party wins power in Uttar Pradesh, a gas cylinder will be provided to every household in the state. He also vowed to provide free power to all farmers for the next five years. He also vowed to provide free power to all farmers for the next five years. Shah further added.

He also stated that all children who complete class 12 and enroll in inter colleges will receive laptops and smartphones.

Farmers' difficulties, inflation, and other issues, according to Akhilesh Yadav and his rivals, are behind the state's "anti-incumbency" mood.

On Sunday, the third phase of Uttar Pradesh's assembly elections will be held, with 59 constituencies across 16 districts voting.
