Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP), and his entire family are expected to vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Sunday at booth number 239 in their native town of Saifai.
Mulayam Singh Yadav was born in the village of Saifai, which is part of the Etawah district's Jaswantnagar assembly seat. Mulayam's brother Shivpal Singh Yadav has represented the Jaswantnagar seat since 1996.
The entire Yadav family, includes Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Prateek Yadav, Ankur Yadav, Abhishek Yadav, Aparna Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Sarla Yadav, Premlata Yadav, Abhayram Yadav, Dharmendra Yada At Saifai's booth number 239, a voter list has been posted.
Former Chief Minister and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's name appears on the voter list as serial number 568, while his wife Dimple Yadav appears as serial number 572.
Aparna Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav's younger daughter-in-law who recently joined the BJP, is likewise registered in the same booth with voter number 586. However, it remains to be seen whether Aparna Yadav would join the family to vote.
The polling for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly has been concluded in two of the seven stages. The third round of voting will take place on February 20. The remaining phases of voting will be held on February 23, 27, and March 3 and 7. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 312 seats out of the 403-seat Uttar Pradesh Assembly in 2017, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) gained 47, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) got 19, and the Congress only managed to win seven seats. Other candidates snatched up the remaining seats.
