Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, was admitted to the AIIMS in New Delhi on Friday for a “regular check-up,” according to an official spokesperson.

According to a hospital statement, he was admitted for a checkup on the suggestion of AIIMS doctors and is perfectly fine.

Jai Ram had visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla earlier in the day for another check-up, according to hospital senior medical superintendent Dr. Janak Raj. During the checkup, his report was found to be healthy, he added.

Thakur was admitted to IGMC Hospital at 11.30 p.m. last night after experiencing mild chest pain, according to sources. The doctors performed Echo and other tests, all of which came out normal.

Jai Ram Thakur, not wanting to take any chances, had decided to have a check-up at AIIMS Delhi to confirm whether the periodic moderate chest pain was related to a myocardial infarction.

Doctors who examined Jai Ram said he complained of weariness and high blood pressure. “His vitals and parameters were almost normal,” one of the physicians remarked, “but his blood pressure was on the higher end.”

After returning from Hyderabad on Thursday night, the chief minister expressed his concern. Jai Ram had gone to Andhra Pradesh for a three-day visit. On Friday, he returned to the state capital.

Jai Ram Thakur was supposed to fly to Mandi and then to Hamirpur for an event. All of his programmes and engagements were cancelled as a result of his health.

Chief Minister was to meet with the Himachal Medical Officers’ Association’s executive officers, who are demanding that the Punjab pay scale be implemented in entirety, that the non-practicing allowance (NPA) be paid at 25% of the basic pay, and that the basic pay plus NPA be capped at 2,37,600 on the Punjab pattern.

CM to return to Shimla on Monday

On Monday, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who is undergoing treatment at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), is expected to return to the state capital. His health parameters were normal, according to the Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday.

“The health parameters of chief minister Jai Ram Thakur admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi, for routine check-up are normal and he is under the observation of senior doctors of the institute,” said a government spokesman in a press release.
