The Chandigarh administration's failure to persuade the UT Powermen Union to drop their plan for a three-day strike against privatisation, city residents should expect power outages starting Monday midnight

Because of the strike, most energy department employees will be unavailable for repairs and maintenance, as well as resolving public complaints in the event of a power outage. Despite the administration's assurances to citizens that all essential procedures have been made to ensure continuous electricity supply, previous strikes have left several portions of the city without power for hours.

However according to the administration, 36 electricians from the engineering department's electrical wing have been assigned to 13 complaint centres. For the duration of the 72-hour strike, senior department officials have been stationed at several substations. The official order for the same is attached below
