Chandigarh:The office of Protector of Emigrants (PoE), Chandigarh in association with NRI Affairs Department, Govt. of Punjab and Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) organized an awareness event with the prospective Emigrants and registered Recruiting Agents on 24th February 2022 at PDOT (Pre-departure orientation training) Centre, Mohali, Punjab.
2. The awareness event was organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) week being celebrated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) from 21 to 27 February 2022.
3. Speaking at the event, Smt. Surinder Kaur, Deputy Secretary, NRI Affairs, Govt. of Punjab, shared her views on the important role being played by the state government in addressing various issues pertaining to the overseas Indians hailing from Punjab.
4. Welcoming the participants, Shri Norbu Negi, Protector of Emigrants, Chandigarh apprised them of the various Govt. of India initiatives & schemes for the welfare & protection of Emigrants. He highlighted the benefits available for the Emigrants from eMigrate project, Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana (PBBY), Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) and also informed about the grievance redressal mechanism through MADAD portal and Pravasi Bhartiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK).
5. During his address, Shri Paramjit Singh, Director, Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) stressed upon the importance of skill development of Emigrants for better job prospects abroad. Shri Satvinder Singh, Master Trainer, gave a brief presentation on Pre-departure orientation training (PDOT) programme.
6. A large number of prospective Emigrants and some of the registered Recruiting Agents participated in the event and they all greatly benefited from this awareness event.
