Commenting on the controversial remarks against the Muslim minority community made by two now-expelled BJP leaders, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) brought the country to a "state of embarrassment" and urged the Centre to take action against those spreading hate propaganda.
The CM, in his statement, said that the Sangh Parivar forces have brought India, which is revered by everyone as a secular democracy, to a state of embarrassment in front of the world. He further added that the remarks made by former BJP National spokesperson Nupur Sharma and the saffron party's expelled Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal against the Prophet affect social security as well as the country's economy. "The Hindutva communal politics affects not our only social security but also our economy," Vijayan reportedly said.
The Kerala CM also said many Islamic countries, which employ millions of Indians and make a notable contribution to India's economy and development, have become vocal in their opposition to the "politics of hatred" of the BJP and the RSS. Pinarayan Vijayan then alleges that the hate comments against Prophet are a part of RSS's agenda.
"The Centre should soon take action against those propagating hate and trying to destroy the secular fabric of our nation. We should unanimously raise their voice against such communal elements," Vijayan said. Following the suspension from BJP for hurting religious sentiments over her alleged "offensive" remarks, Nupur Sharma withdrew her statement by stating that "it was never her intention to hurt anyone's religious feelings."
BJP later issued an official statement and said it strongly denounces insult of any religious personalities of any religion and is against any ideology which demeans any section or religion. Several Muslim majority nations, especially in the middle east, have also summoned Indian envoys over Nupur Sharma's controversial remarks.
