Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flagged off of the inaugural run of the Amb Andaura – New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train from Una Himachal today. Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw , Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology and Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister for information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Sikander Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sh. V.K. Tripathy, Chairman & CEO Railway Board, Other board members, Shri Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway other dignitaries were also among those present on the occasion.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inspected the train coaches of the Vande Bharat Express & took stock of the on-board facilities. He also inspected the control centre of the locomotive engine of this upgraded version of the train.
Appreciating the efforts of the Railways the Hon’ble PM said that the Vande Bharat trains have brought about a paradigm shift in the train travel in India in the past years. These trains are more convenient, comfortable and faster for intercity travel. The new train introduced today is the 4th Vande Bharat of the country. Made with indigenous technology is a perfect example of Atmanirbhar Bharat. With the introduction of this new train from Amb-Andaura to New Delhi travelling to the Shaktipeeths; Nainadevi, Chintapurni, Jwaladevi, Kangradevi and the very popular towns of Dharamshala and Palampur will become more convenient. Una Himachal is all set to become the industrial hub of HP. A drug park is slated to come up very soon. This will provide ample job opportunities to the youth of this region in the industrial sector also besides tourism related activities. The Indian Railways is now progressing rapidly embracing modernization and revamping with the changing scenario. It is now rewriting its destiny as the wheels of change of the new India. It is playing a leading role in the service of the country by providing better service to the rail users, widening its network and connecting hinterlands specially the difficult Himalayan regions of the country. The journey will continue, providing newer facilities to the passengers.
The Hon’ble Minister of Railways, speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts of the Railway engineers who have designed and executed the production and launching of the Vande Bharat trains. The minster added that the trains are extremely popular with the travellers. We are in the process of launching more such trains in different parts of India. The train left the Una station with much fanfare was welcomed and cheered by the local people throughout the route. The showered flower petals and gleefully clapped and waved to the passing train. Enroute Sh. Manoharlal Khattar, CM of Haryana, boarded the train with is entourage he travelled in the train till Ambala. Sh. Anil Vij, Minister in the Haryana cabinet travelled from Ambala to New Delhi.
On reaching at New Delhi railway station, the train was given a rousing reception. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Shri Hans Raj Hans, Shri Ramesh Bidhuri, Hon’ble MPs Lok Sabha and Shri Om Prakash Dhankad, BJP President of Haryana and other dignitaries were present on the ocassion. The reception party also included several prominent citizens of Himachal Pradesh. They were overjoyed to have received the new Vande Bharat in their region.
Salient Features of Vande Bharat Express:
The Vande Bharat Express 2.0 offers a myriad of superior and aircraft-like travelling experience. It is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art safety features including an indigenously developed Train Collision Avoidance System - KAVACH. It is provided with more advanced and improved features which enables it to reach the speed of 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 52 seconds. The improved Vande Bharat Express weighs 392 tons as compared to the previous version of 430 tons. It also has Wi-Fi content on-demand facility and every coach is equipped with 32” screens providing Passenger Information and Infotainment. For the convenience of Divyangjans, many Divyang-friendly facilities have been provided including seat handles with seat numbers in Braille letters. There are reclining seats in all classes while the Executive Coaches have the added feature of 180-degree rotating seats. This train has also been provided with four platform side cameras outside the coach, including rear view cameras.
The train has been designed to increase Indian Railways' Green footprint by dispensing with the power cars and saving about 30% electricity with an advanced regenerative braking system. Also, the Air –Conditioners are 15 per cent more energy efficient. In this upgraded version of the train, a photo-catalytic ultraviolet air purification system is installed in the Roof-Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) for air purification. This system is designed and installed on both ends of RMPU to filter and clean the air free from germs, bacteria, viruses etc. coming through fresh air and return air. With dust-free clean air cooling of the traction motor, the travel will become more comfortable.
Vande Bharat Express between Amb- Andaura and New Delhi will be a game changer and will boost connectivity, promote tourism besides environment friendly mode of transport and reduce carbon emission.
Regular service of the 22447/ 22448 New Delhi- Amb-Andaura - New Delhi Vande Bharat express train will commence from 19th Oct, 2022. It will run six days in a week except Friday. The 22447 New Delhi – Amb Andaura Vande Bharat express train will depart from New Delhi at 05.50 a.m to arrive at Amb Andaura at 11.05 a.m. the same day. In the return direction the 22448 Amb Andaura – New Delhi Vande Bharat express train will depart from Amb Andaura at 01.00 p.m to arrive at New Delhi at 06.25 p.m. the same day.
Comprising of Executive Class and Chair Car coaches, the 22447/ 22448 New Delhi- Amb Andaura-New Delhi Vande Bharat express train will stop at Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib and Una Himachal stations enroute in both the directions.
