Chandigarh, April 24: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) cornered the Congress on the subject of employment and said that the Congress government had created only 8000 government jobs in its first year 2017-18. On the other hand, as per its promise, the Mann government has given government jobs to more than 28000 youths in its first year.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday, AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang attacked the Congress and said that instead of the unemployed youth of Punjab, the Congress government has given government jobs to the families and relatives of its leaders and ministers, while the Mann government gave jobs to the youth of common households of Punjab.
Kang said that for the first time in Punjab, youths got government jobs without any recommendation, money or corruption. During the Congress and Akali-BJP government, it was that if you want to get a government job, either give a bribe or get leaders' recommendations.
This time there were no recommendations or money in the play. People got jobs purely on the basis of merit. This was possible because Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has created a transparent and corruption-free system in Punjab. The Chief Minister has given clear instructions that no recommendations should be made to anyone in the matter of government jobs and our government has zero tolerance policy for corruption.
He said that the aim of the Aam Aadmi Party government is to secure the future of the youth of Punjab by providing them good education and employment. Saving the youth and farmers of Punjab is the priority of our government and we are committed to it.
Kang told the number of jobs at the department level and said that about 9151 vacancies were filled in School Education, 4750 in the Ministry of Home Affairs, 3543 in the Electricity Department and 3228 in the Local Body (Local Government) Department. Similarly, thousands of job vacancies were filled in other departments too. In the coming days, the Mann Government will provide employment to the youth on a larger scale.
