Chandigarh/Sunam Udham Singh Wala, May 15: Fulfilling the long pending demands of residents of villages Ealwal and Tungan, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training and New & Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr Aman Arora on Monday laid foundation stone of slew of development projects paving a way for holistic development of both villages.
Mr Aman Arora laid the foundation stone of a project worth Rs 36 lakh for the renovation of a pond at Ealwal village. He also laid foundation of renovation of the pond which was to be completed at a cost of Rs. 33 lakh along with the new building of panchayat ghar to be constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh at Tungan village.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Aman Arora said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been striving to make the state ‘Rangla Punjab’ again. He said that the development projects were being drawn up in consultation with the people of villages and cities, which were also being ensured to be implemented in a transparent manner.
The Cabinet Minister said that it was his responsibility to develop Sunam as a model constituency and therefore, he personally supervises every small and big project. He said that along with the proper drainage of dirty water in the villages, the ponds will be renovated on the basis of Thapar model to protect the ponds from becoming a source of diseases during the rainy season. He said that after the renovation, the water of these ponds will be cleaned and used for irrigating the fields.
Mr Aman Arora said that apart from curbing corruption, the state government has also sensitised people against it. He appealed to the villagers that it was their own project and the money being spent on it was also their own, so they should also keep strict vigil on development projects. He also cautioned the officials of the departments concerned that any kind of corruption or irregularity will not be tolerated in the constituency.
