Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Gurugram administration have directed the closure of schools in response to the heavy rainfall and flooding. The closure aims to ensure the safety of students, while teachers are still required to report to schools. Additionally, corporate houses have been advised to implement work from home arrangements. A similar announcement was made by the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, stating that classes from 1 to 12 in all schools within the district will remain closed due to the heavy rains.

PUNJAB AND HARYANA

Intense rainfall in various areas of Punjab and Haryana has led to extensive waterlogging, prompting the Army to be put on high alert. The Punjab police department has made necessary preparations to address any emergencies arising from potential floods. To ensure the safety of students, the Punjab government has declared holidays in all government, private, and aided schools until July 13.

Additionally, the Punjab School Education Board in Mohali has postponed the re-appear examinations for Class 5 and 8 due to the continuous rains. The rescheduled dates for the exams will be announced in the future. The board had initially scheduled the Environmental Education re-appear exam for Class 5 and Science exam for Class 8 to be conducted today.

HIMACHAL PRADESH

As per the Himachal Pradesh emergency operation centre, there have been a total of 14 significant landslides and 13 instances of flash floods reported thus far. To ensure the safety of students, the government has issued an order for all state government schools and colleges to remain closed for two days, namely today (July 10) and Tuesday (July 11). Tragically, the torrential rains have resulted in the loss of approximately 19 lives across various states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan.
