Pakistan's Punjab province has announced plans to raise its national flag on a towering 500-foot flag mast, costing approximately PKR 40 crore, on August 14 to commemorate its 76th Independence Day. This ambitious project comes as Pakistan recently secured financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to address its struggling economy.
The cash-strapped Punjab province, which reportedly needs at least Rs 2,000 crore in the next two years to repay foreign loans with interest, will proudly raise the flag at Liberty Chowk in Lahore. In 2017, Pakistan achieved a significant milestone by unveiling a 400-foot tall flag, the tallest in South Asia, at the Attari-Wagah border. The flag, measuring 120x80 feet, held the distinction of being the largest in Pakistan's seven-decade history.
