"From Small Village to National Debut: The Remarkable Journey of Mukesh Kumar, Bengal's Deadly Pacer"
Mukesh Kumar, a talented fast bowler from Bengal, is making his debut for the Indian cricket team in the second Test against the West Indies. He believes that his ability to release the ball perfectly, maintain a consistent rhythm, and target the area around the fourth and fifth stumps makes him a deadly bowler.
His favorite singer is Mohammed Rafi, and he loves listening to the song "main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya" from the movie Hum Dono. This song brings him peace and comfort.
Like many young people from small villages, Mukesh left his hometown to pursue his dreams in a big city. He moved to Kolkata in 2012 to help his father's struggling taxi business. Despite his father's wishes, he started playing local cricket matches for a small fee of Rs 400-500. He has been a strong pillar for the Bengal cricket team for the past eight years, impressing coaches with his long spells of bowling and accurate line outside the off-stump.
One of his significant breakthroughs came in 2014 when he attended a trial organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). During the 'Vision 2020 program,' he was noticed by former Bengal pacer and bowling coach, Ranadeb Bose, along with cricket legends like VVS Laxman, Waqar Younis, and Muttiah Muralitharan. Within a year, he got selected for the Bengal team, and his consistent performances led to an India A call-up against New Zealand A. Later, he received his maiden call-up to the Indian ODI squad against South Africa. He also got an opportunity to be a net bowler for India during the World Test Championship final in England.
Mukesh's experience in England was eye-opening, as he got to bowl with different cricket balls and received valuable guidance from coach Paras Mhabmrey and fellow bowler Shami. He learned the importance of bowling in partnerships and how to use the old ball effectively to confuse batsmen.
In conclusion, Mukesh Kumar's journey is a testament to the determination and hard work of youngsters who leave their homes to pursue their dreams in the world of cricket. He is now ready to showcase his skills and make a mark in international cricket as he debuts for India against the West Indies.
