Successful completion of 5-day Management and Leadership program at PGIMER, Chandigarh for Doctors of Nepal
Chandigarh: 29th July, 2023: (Kartika Singh/Arth Parkash):: "No word is left in the dictionary to describe the program", said Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director Administration while praising the program during the valedictory ceremony of the 22nd International Public Health Management Development Program organized by PGIMER, Chandigarh supported by Indian Technical and Economic cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for Nepal delegates. Adding to this he said, there is a need to expand this program in other domains too. The program was designed for 50 delegates from Nepal, Ministry of Health to learn about the leadership and management skills and the good practices which can be replicated in their country.

International delegates also witnessed, the state of art ROTTO centre (Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation), Tele- Evidence and Telemedicine centre. ROTTO is the first organ transplant in the country and has consistently received the best centre since many years. The senior delegates also visited the Tele evidence, the first in the country to initiate Tele evidence i:e testimony of doctors through video conferencing, rather than their physical presence in the court.
While appreciating the program for training over 1100 individuals from 85 plus countries, Mr. Ummed Mathur, Registrar encouraged the organisers to start a short course for Doctors in India in leadership and management. This 5-day program adopted a special methodology of gamification for teaching the delegates on management and leadership though games and exercises besides peer-to-peer learning, which is a unique approach, he said.
Whilst, thanking the dignitaries and participants and Indian Technical and Economic cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for sponsoring the program, Dr. Goel, Program director said, it is one of a kind, flagship program in the country where doctors who want to be in leadership position gain necessary skills. A short documentary was also released during the valedictory ceremony, narrating the journey of program, of its 7 years of existence since 2016.
At the ceremony, winners of contests like "Out-of-box thinking," "Logo making," "Best selfie," and "e-IPHMDP" were announced. Delegates received certificates for program completion. Participants will be monitored for 3 months after the program for action plan implementation, and the best plan gets awarded by the Ministry of External Affairs.
