During the Monsoon session of the Parliament, the Lok Sabha witnessed a noteworthy moment when the Congress-led INDIA party briefly suspended their protest, allowing the introduction of the Delhi services bill on Tuesday. In response to the situation, Asaduddin Owaisi, the Member of Parliament from All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), cleverly quipped that "chess and ludo are being played" within the Parliament.
The opposition parties had been fervently disrupting the House proceedings, insisting on a statement from the Prime Minister regarding the ethnic violence in Manipur. However, they temporarily halted their protest to accommodate the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, which was being introduced in the Lok Sabha.
Acknowledging the gesture, Owaisi expressed his gratitude to the opposition leader for allowing the House to function in the Prime Minister's absence.

With a touch of humor, Owaisi pointed out the contrasting dynamics within the Parliament. He likened the treasury benches to players of chess, while humorously comparing the opposition's stance to participants in a game of ludo.
Although AIMIM is not part of the 26-member opposition bloc challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Owaisi maintained a firm stance against the bill. He argued that the proposed legislation, granting the Delhi Lieutenant Governor authority over the transfer and posting of city government officials, infringed upon Article 123 and the principle of separation of powers.
In response to the objections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted Parliament's authority to enact laws for Delhi and dismissed the opposition's concerns as politically motivated.
As the intriguing political drama unfolds, the bill remains a point of contention, reflecting the ongoing power struggle over the governance of the national capital.
