The main accused, Chetan Singh, is a 33-year-old constable in the RPF from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India. RPF officers like him are responsible for escort duty on trains to ensure the safety and security of passengers during their journey.

The Accused's Alleged Statements and Motive

After the shooting, a video surfaced on social media, which appeared to show Chetan Singh holding a rifle and standing beside a body covered in blood. In the video, he makes controversial remarks, claiming that certain individuals are operating from Pakistan and receiving media coverage in India. He mentions specific political figures, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi, as the only names people should support if they want to live and vote in India. However, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not independently confirmed the reason for the violent act.

Information About the Victims and Official Responses

Among the victims was RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Tikaram Meena, a 57-year-old man from Sawai Madhoper village in Rajasthan, who was due to retire soon after 33 years of service. The other three victims were identified as Abdul Kadar (64), Asgar Abbas Ali (48), and Syed Saifullah. All of them were reported to be Muslim.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Niraj Verma, confirmed the incident and stated that Chetan Singh was taken into custody by the police. Instead, they mentioned that the accused was not feeling well and lost his calm, indicating a potential mental health issue. The accused's temper and hot-headed nature were also highlighted by Praveen Sinha, Inspector General of RPF (Western Railway).

A legislator from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party called for a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident. As of now, there has been no official reaction from Prime Minister Modi regarding the tragic event.
