"Punjab Tourism Summit" would play a vital role in giving fillip to tourism - Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann

The Punjab Tourism Summit to be organized next month by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to boost the tourism and to make the world aware of its culture and rich heritage, will play a vital role in promoting the tourism industry in the state.
Divulging details, Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said that Punjab has a tremendous potential for tourism, may it be eco tourism, adventurous or water tourism that further be explored by hosting a first of its kind "Punjab Tourism Summit" in the coming days.
While visiting Siswan Dam, Amity University and Dastan e Shahadat of Chamkaur Sahib with senior officials of tourism and investment promotion departments today as part of the preparations for the 'Punjab Tourism Summit', she said that in this summit various aspects related to the rich history and culture of the state will be shown as exhibitions, seminars and various other event.
Visits Siswan Dam and Amity University to take stock of the ensuing first of its kind " Punjab Tourism Summit"
She said that the Siswa Dam has a unique scenic beauty besides having potential for water tourism. Though the department of Forest and Wildlife has developed the place for using it as a tourist destination, but there are a lot of additions that can be made here to make it more eye catching. She said that small huts, coffee shop and a timber trail to the hills in between the dam lake can further add its serenity. She said that the Dam site has a great potential of attracting tourists in tricity apart from other parts of the country.
She said that though Punjab Government has notified Adventurous and Water tourism policies but there is also a dire need of eco tourism policy to boost the tourism in the state that has a great legacy of rich culture and heritage.
The Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Investment Promotion, Labour and Hospitality Minister of Punjab, further said that to work in tendam in this direction, a committee of Tourism, Drainage and Forest and Wildlife have been formed to clear the glitches in smooth implementation and development of Adventurous, Water and eco tourism.
She said that the proposed Punjab Tourism Summit will usher the avenues for tourism based investments besides exhibiting the rich culture and heritage of the state.
The Devisional Forest Officer, Kanwardeep Singh apprised the minister of the developments related to the Siswan Dam and Mirzapur Dam. He said that besides setting up a tracking trail of Five KM to Mirzapur Dam, a trail from Pallanpur to Siswan Dam is also underway. The Siswan Dam has cottages too which will be leased out soon to make them functional besides functional boats and refreshment corner.
Later, she also visited Amity University in Mohali. She said that today, by visiting various places, suitable places are being considered for this first prestigious tourism summit of the state.
The Minister was accompanied by the Principal Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Rakhi Gupta Bhandari, CEO Invest Punjab Kamal Kishore Yadav, Additional CEO Jaspreet Singh and Director Tourism Mrs Amrit Singh.
