In a significant anti-terror operation, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have apprehended six suspected associates of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group. The arrests occurred in the Baramulla and Budgam districts of the region, shedding light on a potential terror module.
A terror module came to light in the Uri area of Baramulla in northern Kashmir. This revelation led to the arrest of three individuals allegedly associated with LeT. These individuals were reportedly involved in orchestrating and managing the module's activities.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces detained an individual named Showkat Ali Awan, hailing from Churunda area of Uri. This initial arrest yielded crucial information that unveiled the identities of the two other accomplices, Ahmad Din and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana. Subsequent questioning and investigation led to the recovery of two grenades, a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, and four live rounds from Din and Khatana.
The trio was reportedly implicated in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition. Allegedly acting on orders from Pakistan-based terror handlers, they facilitated the distribution of these materials to LeT operatives for the execution of terror activities.
In a separate incident in Budgam district, security forces detained three more individuals linked with the LeT terror group. These associates were identified as Qaisar Ahmad Dar, Tahir Ahmad Dar, and Aqib Rashed Ganie. The arrests took place in the Khansahab area of the district. During the apprehensions, incriminating materials were seized, including a Chinese hand grenade, two magazines, and 57 live rounds.
Authorities have registered cases for both incidents and initiated thorough investigations. The recovery of significant materials, along with the individuals' testimonies, will contribute to uncovering the extent of the terror activities and potential networks involved.
