One of the most recent blows to the region is the closure of the vital Shimla-Kalka road, a segment of the National Highway-5 (NH-5), due to a landslide in the Solan district. The closure, prompted by the landslide that occurred around 2:35 am to 2:40 am, has effectively disrupted traffic flow and further hampered transportation accessibility.
This closure adds to the woes of the region, as the Chandigarh-Shimla Highway, commonly known as the Kalka Shimla highway (NH-05), has already been grappling with closures due to landslides. The area's vulnerability to such incidents highlights the challenges posed by the region's rugged terrain during the monsoon season.
