Chandigarh: 11th August, 2023: (Kartika Singh/Arth Parkash):: The First National conference of Stillbirth Society of India SBSICON 2023 will be held in PGIMER on the 12th and 13th August, 2023. The conference is being organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, PGIMER Chandigarh under aegis of still birth society of India. It will be attended by eminent experts from all over India including public health champions in this field.


The theme of the conference is to Preventing Preventable Stillbirths (demise of child in the womb). Focus on three key areas: Awareness, Prevention, and Support is required to achieve this.


Stillbirth is a harsh reality that we cannot afford to ignore any longer. According to recent statistics, India has one of the highest stillbirth rates in the world. These numbers are not mere statistics; they represent the shattered dreams, the unfulfilled potential, and the heartbreak of families who have lost their precious little ones.
This conference has been organized with the objective of confronting this issue head-on, to shed light on the underlying causes, and to develop strategies that will help us prevent stillbirths and provide support to those affected.


The academic session will start on Saturday, 12th August with a
 Public forum- Ankahi Ansuni.


This will be attended by bereaved families and is an efforts to make support group for them and also to expel myths around still births. There will be a panel on Polices to intervention  on still birth situation in India. 


Three skill building workshops will be directed to educate young doctors on perinatal pathology, how to improve labor room care and prevent stillbirths during labor.
On Sunday 13th August, the highlights of the conference will comprise presentation of Research papers, lectures, and debates on topics like Stillbirth burden and challenges, Rainbow pregnancy, Fetal growth, Bereavement principles and a Quiz for postgraduate students. Psychological needs of the mother are also a part of conference deliberations.
