Tensions escalated at the border between Chandigarh and Mohali, specifically near Sector 52/53, when a group of 31 members from the Sant Samaj extended their support to the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha (QIM). They began marching towards the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. However, due to heightened security measures and barricades set up by the police at the border, the delegation was prevented from entering Chandigarh.
The situation at the Chandigarh-Mohali border intensified as 31 members of the Sant Samaj, aligned with the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha (QIM), embarked on a march towards the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. This action was met with resistance as the police had bolstered security and established barricades to hinder their entry into Chandigarh.
Despite ongoing discussions between the Chandigarh Police and QIM organizers, no resolution was reached on the preceding Sunday. The QIM had initially announced the intention of Sant Samaj to march towards the Chief Minister's residence on August 13. Additionally, the Sant Samaj planned to lead a protest on August 15 to observe a "black day," with the route for this march being approved by the QIM's core committee.

Prominent figures within the Sant Samaj, including Jatinder Singh Rara Sahib Wale, Baljit Singh Daduwal, Bhupinder Singh Jarg, Tajeshwar Singh, Nirmal Singh, Bhupinder Singh Majri, and Kuljit Singh Siswawale, underscored the importance of addressing the issues faced by the Sikh community by both state and central governments. Daduwal highlighted that a substantial turnout is expected on August 15, where people will assemble at the protest site before marching towards Chandigarh to mark the "black day."
In anticipation of the call to observe a "black day" on August 15, the Mohali police heightened security around the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha's protest site. They sealed off the Sector 52-53 dividing road and stationed water cannons as crowd-control measures to manage any potential unrest.

Despite efforts, the talks between the Chandigarh Police and the morcha organizers failed to produce a conclusive outcome. As a result, the morcha remained steadfast in their decision to proceed with their planned rally on March 15. In response, the UT police denied them entry, prolonging the state of uncertainty and tension.
